About our extracts
What is a liquid herbal extract?
A concentrated form of an herb, made by soaking the plant in a mix of alcohol and water (sometimes with gentle heat) to draw out its beneficial compounds. The result is a potent liquid your body can absorb easily. Herbs can be used on their own or combined into formulas.
Why liquid extracts instead of pills?
Liquid extracts are already dissolved, so your body doesn't have to break down a capsule or tablet first. That makes them fast to absorb and easy to adjust to the serving size that works for you.
Why alcohol instead of glycerin or oil?
Alcohol is the traditional solvent for a reason: it pulls a wider range of compounds out of the plant than glycerin or oil, and it's a natural preservative. We adjust the alcohol-to-water ratio for each herb to match its chemistry. Our alcohol is organic, fair-trade, kosher, pharmaceutical-grade, and made from sustainable sugarcane.
Why does my extract turn cloudy in water?
Some herbs, like turmeric and propolis, are rich in resins that don't fully dissolve in water. The cloudiness is normal and a sign of a potent, whole-plant extract.
Using them
What's the best way to take them?
Shake the bottle, measure your serving with the dropper, and add it to a little water or juice. For best absorption, take it about 30 minutes before a meal or 2 hours after.
Can I take more than the suggested serving?
Start with the serving on the label. Everyone is different, so if you're thinking about taking more, talk with a healthcare professional first. We're also happy to help.
Can I take Adaptonic products every day?
Our Everyday line is made for daily use. For everything else, follow the directions on the label, or reach out for a free consultation.
How long until I notice a difference?
It depends on the herb, your body, and what you're working on. Some people notice effects within 30 minutes; others need a few weeks of consistent use. Herbs work best alongside good food, sleep, and habits.
How long do adaptogens take to work?
Usually one to six weeks. Adaptogens are subtle: they build resilience gradually, so consistency matters more than any single dose.
Storage and shelf life
How should I store my extracts?
At room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat. Our alcohol-based extracts are self-preserving, so there's no need to refrigerate them.
How long do they last?
Alcohol-based extracts last indefinitely when stored properly. We've seen decade-old tinctures that are still potent. Glycerin-based products are best used within about three years. Always check the label for specific dates.
Orders and shipping
Do you ship internationally?
No. We ship within the United States only, and not to every state. See our Shipping Policy for details.
What's your return policy?
Unopened products can be returned within 30 days. Damaged or incorrect items are replaced or refunded. Full details are in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
